the nearest planet from the sun and the
smallest planet in our solar system, mercury ๐Ÿ™‚ it is named after the Roman diet mercury,
the messenger of god. mercury formed about 4.5 billion years ago when gravity pulled
swirlin gas and dust together to form this small planet nearest the Sun. the
first telescopic observations of mercury were meant by Gelileo in the early
17th century. the best time to spot mercury is about half an hour after
sunset or half an hour before sunrise. the diameter of mercury is about 4,879 kilo meter. Mercury is a little more than 1/3 the wide af earth.
mercury revolves around the Sun in an elliptical orbit, its orbit period around
the Sun of 88 Earth days is the smallest of all the planet in the solar system. the maximum distance from the Sun to
mercury is 43.5 million miles and the minimum distance
from the Sun to mercury is 28.5 million miles. during the day
time it reaches temperature of up to 427 degree Celsius and during night time
Mercury’s temperature can go -173 degrees Celsius. mercury is an average
distance of 77 million kilometers from Earth. mercury has a large core of liquid
metal about 2,074 kilometers surrounded by a mantle of silica and a solid outer
crust is only about 400 kilometers. mercury possesses a thin exosphere that
contains small amounts of hydrogen, helium and oxygen.
it also has even tinier amount of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. some of the gas particles come from the
solar wind of the Sun. most of the mercury surface would appear grayish
brown to the human eye. the bright streaks are called ”Crater Rays” they are formed when an asteroid or comet strikes the surface. calories basin is also one of
the largest known craters in the entire solar system, it is roughly 1,550 kilometers in diameter. the Mariner 10 and MESSENGER are NASA’s spacecraft that have made close observation of mercury. THANKYOU FOR WATCH ๐Ÿ˜‰
